Route simulation, fast or slow for iGO 2006 or MIO

Default route simulation is fast. But if you wish you can change the settings so that the route simulation will be in normal speed. Do following:

Create a text file called SYS.TXT and add following lines

slowsim=1

Now place this file in your IGO or Miomap directory on your storage card.

Speedcams for Amigo can be downloaded for free from POIplaza. Download the speedcam file as a POI file and place this file in \Storage Card\amigo\content\userdata\poi after unzipping.

Start Amigo.

How to create a custom startscreen in iGO8

Follow the steps below for creating a custom startscreen.

1. Download a picture you like.
2. Resize the picture to 240x320 (depending on your device).
3. Save the picture as 'loading.bmp' in bmp format.
4. Download branding.zip from your iGO device to your computer
5. Open branding.zip with Winrar and add loading.bmp to \ui_igo8\240x320
6. Copy branding.zip back to your iGO device.

Start iGO and you will have your own startscreen.

IGO8 out of memory problem

On some devices an out of memory message can occur, especially on older or device with a small internal memory.

This can be solved with following sys.txt

Put the sys.txt file in the root of the IGO map.
Above sys.txt was tested on a HP ipaq with 64 mb memory

Mio transfer hack for C210, C250, C510, C710

If you want to download and install new skins, voices, color maps then you need an unlocked Mio device or the Mio TransferHack. With the Mio transferhack you will be able to copy any kind of file to your Mio device.

How to install the Mio Transfer Hack:

1. Install from DVD the original Mio Transfer

2. Download the TransferHack

3. Unzip the file to the install directory where the mio transfer is located.

Now turn on your device and connect it to you pc.

Customizing the startscreen for iGO 2006

In this first article i will explain how to customize the startscreen. The startscreen is located in the data.zip file, before you make modifications make sure you have made a backup of this
file.

I-Go:
In the data.zip file you can find 3 or 2 files named "loading1.jpg", "loading2.jpg" or "loading3.jpg".

Loading1.jpg is used for 240x320 resolution, loading2.jpg is used for 320x240 resolution. Loading3.jpg is only used in I-go for the 240x240 resolution for the hp ipaq hw6500,6510 and hw6515.
Extract the loading files inclusive pathname to your pc, then replace the loadingx.jpg with the new loading jpg file and add these new files to the data.zip file.

Miomap:
Extract data.zip file to your pc. Replace the loading.jpg in uip_mio\mio folder with the loading1.jpg after you have renamed the file to loading.jpg. Zip the data file again and recplace the data file on the sd card with the new dat.zip file

Below are customized startscreens for I-go and Miomap v3.2. Click on an image for full picture which can be saved to your own computer.

Color scheme for igo 2006 or mio 3.2/3.3

Color map schemes obtain
the definitions for the colors of roads, higways, water, urbanisation
and so on. Schemes can be selected from the Map options menu, here you
can select a color map for night or daylight. On the internet you can
find several scenes for your mio device or IGo. Downloaded schemes must
be installed in the
\My Flash Disk\miomap\miomap\scheme
directory. Do not unzip the downloaded file but place it as a zip file
on your device. Below is an example of a color scheme, click
on the map for download.
After you have installed the zip file you can select the new color map in the map options menu.

You can edit these zip
files youself, in a future article i will describe how to make your own
color scheme for your mio device.

Modifying voice instructions

When you approach a roundabout (rotary/traffic circle) then voice instructions are given 800, 300 and 100 metres prior, but only the very last one tells you which exit to take. It would be much better if the 300 meter announcement would contain the complete instructions, including the number of the exit to take.

So now we are going to change the voice instructions. The voice file is stored in the map voice, every zip file is a voice you can select in I-go or Miomap. In the zip file you find an file called commands.csv. We have to modify this file, extract this file to yoour pc with full file path. after the modifications we have to add this file to the zip file also with full file path.

Look for following line in the file:
,"300[equal,minsilence=10,if_not_2]","*prepare_to_enter_roundabout",
"prepare_to enter roundabout in %dist"

Replace this line with following:
,"300[equal,minsilence=10,if_not_2,exit]","*enter_roundabout_exit",
"in %dist enter roundabout take %exit exit"

Now we have a voice command in 300 meters prior to the roundabout telling which exit we have to take.

Skin Woody for Miomap V3.2
